Workshops for gingerbread contest are today in Oneonta
ONEONTA _ Main Street Oneonta will host workshops for its annual gingerbread contest today at the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts. Two sessions will be offered: one from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and another from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.
State University College at Oneonta bakery manager David Kropp will lead the workshop, offering tips and recipes for participants.
Entries in this year's contest must be submitted by Dec. 1. Entry forms are available at Artware, Sport Tech and Ruffino's. This year's contest will accept entries in one of three themes: "Your Favorite Childhood Book," "Historic" and "Giant." Prizes will be awarded in adult, family and young-adult categories.

CCE will promote Eat3 campaign throughout area
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will promote local food through its Eat3 campaign this week, offering recipes and information with the theme of "Eat Well, Eat Local, Eat Together."
CCE representatives will be at the WIC site in Margaretville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today; at the Stamford Grand Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday; and at the Delaware County Employees Health Fair in Delhi from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18.

I-88 repairs to begin today
The state Department of Transportation announced that pavement repair will be performed on Interstate 88 eastbound and westbound between Exit 12, Otego, and Exit 13, Oneonta, beginning at about 7:30 a.m. today.
Motorists will encounter driving-lane closures in the eastbound and westbound directions within the work zone. This work is expected to be completed by 3 p.m. Friday, weather permitting. Work will not be performed Wednesday because of Veterans Day.
Lopez to meet with public
SCHOHARIE _ Assemblyman Pete Lopez, R-Schoharie, will continue his series of community meetings with two upcoming events.
Lopez is scheduled to meet with Hunter and Jewett-area constituents today but may be detained in Albany. The meeting will continue, hosted by his staff, if Lopez is unable to attend.
