Debates to be rebroadcast

The League of Women Voters debates featuring candidates for town offices will be rebroadcast on Channel 23 at 8:30 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The debate featuring county candidates will be rebroadcast on the same station at 1 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Concert and lecture series begins tonight

Randy Angiel of the history department at the State University College at Oneonta will present four pre-concert lectures in a new concert series of music at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum beginning today.

Angiel's talks will explore the dynamic relationship that music and the arts have on nationalism, war and peace, social movements and folk traditions. His first presentation, scheduled for today, will highlight folk music and its impact on nationalism and the Great War.

The concert series, presented by the ensemble Esopus Musicalia, will include works and composers ranging from Ives to Corelli. Graduates of the leading American music conservatories are gathering together under the direction of Juilliard and Yale alumnus and Saugerties resident Nadège Foofat to present the classical repertoire at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum.

The pre-concert lectures will start at 6:30 p.m. and the concerts at 7:30 p.m. More information on the concert series is available by e-mailing EsopusMusicalia@gmail.com.

College to host walk

The State University College of Oneonta will sponsor and host a Halloween-themed Oneonta Kidney Walk as part of the National Kidney Foundation's Walk at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Alumni Field House.

The Oneonta Kidney Walk is sponsored by the SUNY Oneonta Center for Social Responsibility and Community and the SUNY Oneonta chapter of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. The event will include an indoor walk, activities, games and Halloween contests.

Halloween curfews set

Halloween curfews have been set in the town of Oneonta and village of Otego.

In Oneonta, a townwide curfew will be in effect that requires all those younger than 16 to be off town streets by 9 p.m. Saturday. The curfew will not apply to those accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Violators will be subject to a $50 fine.

In Otego, the curfew will forbid anyone younger than 18 to walk, stand or loiter on village streets from 9 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Flood map available

The town of Otego has the preliminary Federal Emergency Management Agency Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map, along with the FEMA Flood Insurance Study, available for inspection. The maps are available for review by area residents. Officials said there will be an opportunity during a future meeting with FEMA to make changes to nontechnical information presented in the documents.
