A State University College at Oneonta student was arrested Tuesday night in connection with what police are saying was a consensual encounter gone wrong.
William Vienneau, 19, of Endicott, was charged late Tuesday night with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree reckless endangerment, which are all felonies.
A 21-year-old SUNY Oneonta student who lives on Maple Street said Vienneau, her boyfriend at the time, had forced her into oral sex in her bedroom Oct. 18 after she asked him to stop, Lt. Dennis Nayor said Thursday.
The Daily Star has a policy of not identifying the victims or alleged victims of sexual assaults.
The encounter began consensually and involved a pair of play handcuffs, Nayor said.
"He took it too far and she didn't want any more of it. He wouldn't let her up," Nayor said.
The encounter lasted for about 20 minutes, Nayor said. Vienneau faces the petit larceny charge for allegedly stealing $60 and prescription pills from the woman while he was in her apartment.
Police investigated the alleged incident for about a week and interviewed the woman, her roommate and Vienneau before seeking an arrest warrant, Nayor said.
Vienneau was arraigned in Oneonta City Court and sent to Otsego County jail on $1,500 bail. He was released on bail Wednesday and is to appear in court at a later date.
