A business networking meeting, hosted by the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Howard Johnson Inn and Suites in Hartwick Seminary.
The morning's feature presentation, "Creating Your Website on a Budget" by member Devin Morgan, will include a practical overview of establishing a Web presence, as well as resources to take home. A hot breakfast will be served.
This networking session will kick off the 2009-10 season of seminars focusing on the use of Internet technologies and applications for businesses, including online business networking; the use of social networks; using the Internet for remote meetings, phone calls and chat features; and other useful Web-based applications. The seminars will also highlight Chamber members who are successfully using these tools.
Registration is required for Thursday's meeting. Forms are available online at www.cooperstownchamber.org and have been mailed to members, officials said. Registration is $14 for members or $18 for nonmembers.

Man charged with felonies
A Valley Stream man was arrested Oct. 21 for two felonies following an investigation involving state police at Sidney and Valley Stream, Sidney troopers said.
Devandra V. Persaud, 26, was arrested for second-degree kidnapping and first-degree criminal use of a firearm, both Class B felonies.
The investigation revealed that on Oct. 9, Persaud traveled from Long Island to Unadilla to meet with a 22-year-old Unadilla man he believed was having a relationship with a former girlfriend, deputies said.
Troopers said Persaud enticed the man into his car under the guise of forming a business partnership. Persaud then allegedly brandished a firearm and released the man, who was not identified, only after he agreed to end his relationship with Persaud's former girlfriend.
Persaud was sent to Otsego County jail on $15,000 cash bond with the investigation continuing, deputies said.
