The cause of the fire at the home of Frances Andrews on state Route 23, next to the Davenport Center diner, is still undetermined, Davenport Fire Chief Fred Utter said Friday.
According to the fire chief, Andrews was home when the fire began Friday, but got out safely. Someone at the diner alerted officials to the fire, Utter said.
The blaze, which began at about 10:30 a.m., is not considered suspicious, Utter said.
There were about 60 fire fighters at the scene, he said. The Davenport Fire Department received mutual aid from East Meredith, Pindars Corners, Otego and West Oneonta departments. The FAST teams from Worcester, Oneonta, Franklin and Sidney also provided assistance, Utter said.
The structure was heavily damaged and will have to be knocked down, Utter said. Andrews, who lives alone, was insured and is staying with a relative, he said.
