The Cherry Valley Democratic Committee will host a "Meet the Candidates Night" from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Old School Cafe. The public is invited to meet the Democratic candidates running in the Nov. 3 election.

Those attending will be Daniel Crowell, candidate for Otsego County treasurer; Patricia Seybolt, candidate for Cherry Valley town clerk; and the two candidates for town council, Tim Horvath and Chris Barown. Refreshments will be served.

Fire department gets upgrades

Sen. James Seward, R-Milford, recently announced that the Unadilla Forks Volunteer Fire Co. in West Winfield received $20,000 for emergency communication upgrades and equipment improvements as part of the state budget.

The Senate funding will help replace emergency vehicle radios, portable radios and pagers for first responders. Seward said.
