ONEONTA _ A motorcyclist was charged with reckless driving after his passenger was taken to the hospital with a fractured pelvis and other injuries, state police at Oneonta said Sunday.
Gerry Eberly, 24, of Gilbertsville, was driving west on state Route 28 in the town of Oneonta at 11:09 p.m. Saturday, when a vehicle was pulling out of the Interskate 88 roller-rink parking lot, troopers said.
Eberly had been operating the motorcycle on only the rear wheel with the bike's light directed toward the sky, troopers said. The motorcycle ran into a vehicle driven by C.M. Demaroney, 30, of Portlandville.
Jessica White, 20, whose address wasn't available, was Eberly's passenger, troopers said, and she was admitted to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta with a fractured pelvis and fractured elbow.
Troopers said Eberly had a sprained right ankle and cuts to his knees and was taken to Fox, where he was treated and released.
Eberly and White were wearing full-face-model helmets, troopers said.
DeMoroney had neck pain and was treated at Fox Hospital and released, troopers said.
Oneonta Fire Department crews responded and took the patients to the hospital.
