{"headline18"/}Car seats to be checked

Renee Renner, a certified child passenger safety technician, will be working with families interested in having a child's car seat inspected.

Inspections by appointment will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at Delaware Opportunities on state Route 10 in Hamden.

The next fitting station will be Wednesday.

If the technician determines that a child's car seat is inappropriate or unsafe, a new child restraint may be given depending on income eligibility.

All individuals who are given a child restraint will be educated and instructed on the proper installation of that seat and how to correctly secure the child in the seat.

The Delaware Opportunities Car Seat program educates families on the proper selection, installation and use of child restraints.

To schedule an appointment, call 746-1700.
