The public is being asked for help in
the investigations of fires in the Bloomville
and Delhi areas that occurred Friday
morning, as well as the vandalism of
equipment in the Bloomville and South
Kortright gravel banks reported Friday
morning, Delaware County deputies
said. It was not known if any of the incidents
are related, deputies said.
County fire departments responded
to two structure fires Friday morning,
said Emergency Services Director
Richard Bell. Both were total losses
and were unoccupied seasonal residences
owned by people from out of
the area, he said.
The Bloomville Fire Department responded
to a fire at Scotch Hill Road at
about 2:30 a.m., Bell said. In the second
fire, the Delhi Fire Department was
dispatched at 3:51 a.m., he said. Both
are being investigated, and he said
he did not want to say anything more
about the fires, including whether they
were related.
Anyone with information about the
fires is asked to contact emergency
services at 746-9600 or deputies at 746-
2336, according to a media release.
Delaware Bulldozing, Clark Companies
and LaFever Excavating have
reported damage to equipment in their
gravel banks on county Route 18 in
Bloomville and on Roses Brook Road
in South Kortright, according to a release
from deputies. The damage that
occurred between Thursday night and
early Friday morning included broken
windows and attempts to set the equipment
on fire, deputies said. Anyone
who noticed anything unusual at the
sites between 12:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. is
asked to call deputies at 746-2336.
