COBLESKILL _ SUNY Cobleskill will break ground on the college’s latest construction project _ the Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources building _ at 2:15 p.m. today in front of Hodder Hall on the north side of campus.
The ceremony is part of the State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher’s tour of all 64 campuses, according to a media release.
The visit to the State University College of Agriculture and Technology will mark the chancellor’s 41st stop _ locally, she has also visited the State University College at Oneonta.
SUNY Cobleskill’s capital improvement portfolio includes $100 million to address the five-year facility’s master plan and critical maintenance needs at the college, the release said.
Support specifically intended for the new Center for Agriculture and Natural Resources is set at $41.7 million. The new LEED-certifiable building will support structures that house the existing fish hatchery, greenhouses, meat harvesting laboratory, livestock building and expand instructional space for these programs.
The replacement of the outdated buildings, the release said, will support initiatives in agriculture and natural-resources programming at the campus.
