WALTON — Jerry A. D’Addezio, 65, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City.

Jerry was born on April 12, 1947, in Walton, the son of the late Joseph and Edna Edwards D’Addezio.

Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and continued his service with the National Guard. He was a NYS Correction Officer at Sullivan Correctional Facility in South Fallsburg.

He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Walton, American Legion in Downsville, Campbell Brook Hunting Club, and a previous member of the Walton Fire Department.

Jerry was a NASCAR and NY Yankees fan and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Jerry is survived by his loving family, his wife, Darla; his children, Joseph (Pam) D’Addezio of Walton; Anthony D’Addezio of Walton; Angela (Travis) Neidig of Watertown, Gemma (Ryan) Ward of Lancaster, Pa.; his grandchildren, Andrew, Brianna, Rylee, Taylor, Gianna, Jathan, Gabriel and Dakota; his sisters, Judy (George) Hendrickson of Roscoe, Cherie (Edwin) Klemm of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother-in-law, Patricia Knapp of Walton; his sister-in-law, Tracy Knapp of Albany; his special nephew, Chris D’Addezio of Downsville; his best friend, Scott Lacey of Binghamton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ann Lobdell D’Addezio; his son, Bret D’Addezio; his brothers, Joseph, Larry and Lewis D’Addezio; and his sisters, Rose Aikens and Ginger Lacey.

Friends and family are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2013, at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. John’s the Roman Catholic Church, 17 Benton Ave., Walton, with the Rev. Michael Flannery, as celebrant.

Memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory may be made to the Walton Fire Department and EMS, 61 West St., Walton, NY 13856.
