DELHI _ Two drug cases were heard in Delaware County Court on Monday.
Tammy L. Fairbairn, 40, of Bloomville, was sentenced to a year in jail on charges of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, oxycodone, and second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a prescription for Oxycotin.
Fairbairn pleaded guilty to the charges Jan. 11 in a plea agreement.
But when she appeared Monday to begin her sentence, she insisted she didn't understand the terms of the agreement and asked that her jail term be delayed.
Delaware County Judge Carl Becker said Fairbairn was directed not to use any alcohol or illegal substances during the four-week interval between her court appearances, but blood tests administered during that time indicated that the THC level in her blood went down and then back up again.
In another case, Thomas J. Renwick, 41, of Westford pleaded innocent to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Renwick was arrested Sept. 2 when he allegedly possessed oxycodone.
Renwick is free on $2,500 bail to await trial during the July 19 trial term.
