Oneonta car wash to expand into self-serve dog care site

An Oneonta car-wash owner said he is working on an expansion _ for dogs.

Breck Tarbell said he has been following a trend for self-serve dog-wash businesses elsewhere and decided to grow his 536 Main St. site into All Star Auto and Pet Wash. Renovations are under way, he said, with hopes of opening this month.

The price to wash a dog will start at $8 for 10 minutes, Tarbell said, and money can be added for an extended cleaning. The pet wash will offer options such as tearless shampoo, conditioner, oatmeal treatment shampoo, de-skunking treatment, a veterinary-grade shampoo and two speeds of blow drying, according to a media release. Vending products planned are edible dental brush chews, drying towels and dog treats.

Tarbell, who is president of the Lions Club in Oneonta, said he bought the car wash about four years ago and will be working with Marina Frisch as a partner.

For more information about the business and the grand opening of the pet wash, call Tarbell at 432-3090.

Tri-town business, community event set

Organizers are planning the annual Tri-Town Business Expo and Community Fair in Sidney for March 27.

The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will be in the Sidney Fire Training Center at 72 River St. and is co-sponsored by the Bainbridge, Sidney and Unadilla chambers of commerce.

The registration deadline is March 12, organizers said. Registration forms are available at www.sidneychamber.org or by calling the Sidney Chamber at 561-2642.

The cost is $25 to reserve a table space for any Tri-Town chamber member and $40 for a non-chamber participant. Businesses may display products and services at their tables.

The event is open to the community, and admission and parking are free, organizers said. Door prizes will be given, and food will be available. Last year, more than 400 people visited the expo, organizers said.
