A Burlington Flats teenager was jailed after an investigation, Otsego deputies said in a media release.
Billy J. Bates, 17, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and petit larceny June 26, deputies said after investigating an unspecified incident in the town of Edmeston. Bates was arraigned in Edmeston Town Court and sent to Otsego County jail on $1,000 bail. He is to reappear in court July 6.
Deputies also charged Bates with unlawful possession of marijuana, and he is to appear in Burlington Town Court to answer the charge July 13.

Super appointed for Andes
ANDES _ Robert Chakar was recently appointed superintendent for the Andes Central School District. He will assume the post on Wednesday.
Chakar has been the principal at the Woodlands Junior/Senior High School in Hartsdale and Bellport Senior High in Brookhaven He has a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Central Connecticut State University, a Master of Science in reading and language arts from Western Connecticut State University and an Ed.D. from the University of Bridgeport, Conn.
Chakar replaces John Berhardt, who is retiring.
