UCCCA settles on interim leader

Staff Report

ONEONTA _ Former OFO Executive Director Cheri Albrecht will become the interim executive director at the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts.

Linda MacKenzie-Ranc, UCCCA's president and CEO, made the announcement Thursday afternoon. She said Albrecht will be involved in the search for a permanent executive director.

"We're really, really thrilled," MacKenzie-Ranc said.

Albrecht said by phone Thursday that she is "excited about being part of the search process," and is looking forward to working with the board.

Typically, such searches can be expected to take anywhere from three to six months, she said.

Albrecht is skilled in public relations and is experienced in leading a not-for-profit organization, MacKenzie-Ranc said.

Albrecht was the executive director of Opportunities For Otsego for 20 years, and also has experience with other area not-for-profits.

Former UCCCA Executive Director Kathleen Frascatore resigned Monday. Frascatore had led UCCCA since July 2004.

Albrecht will be attending "The Mansion," a regional juried art show opening tonight, to meet the public and the artists. The event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wilber Mansion and is open to the public.

"She will officially start Monday," MacKenzie-Ranc said.

Albrecht is expected to be active in planning for upcoming UCCCA events, including the City of the Hills Arts Festival on Aug. 1.
