Larceny, DWI, drug cases are heard in Otsego court

COOPERSTOWN _ In Otsego County Court on Thursday before Judge John Lambert, an Oxford man was convicted of fourth-degree grand larceny.

According to court records, Joel L. Lewis, 22, stole one or more firearms in the town of Morris between Dec. 15 and Dec. 29

Lewis is being held at the Otsego County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail and is scheduled to be sentenced July 13.

Also before Lambert on Thursday, Nicole Schrull, 24, of Worcester, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, oxycodone.

She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to be sentenced July 27.

In Otsego County Court on June 12 before Judge Brian Burns, Mary Dixon, 24, of Cherry Valley, was sentenced to five years' probation for driving while intoxicated, an incident that occurred in June 2008, according to court records.

Her driver's license was revoked; she was fined $1,000 and assessed $295 in court fees.

Also in court June 12 before Burns:

ä John Miller, Jr., 29, of Gilboa, pleaded innocent at arraignment to a charge of offering a false instrument for filing.

According to court records, the incident occurred Oct. 23 in Middlefield.

Miller also pleaded innocent to a charge of failing to register as a sexual offender, an incident that occurred Nov. 3, according to court records.

He was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail to await further court action.

ä Charles J. Meunier, III, 28, of Maryland, was sentenced to five years' probation for third-degree burglary.

According to court records, the incident occurred Oct. 18 in the town of Maryland; he pleaded guilty May 5.

Meunier was ordered to pay about $637 in restitution and was assessed $375 in court fees.

ä David Lowe, 35, of Unadilla, was sentenced to one year in jail.

According to court records, on May 15, he pleaded guilty to possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Lowe's sentence includes 10 years' probation and he was assessed $1,370 in court fees.

ä Steven English, 24, of Middlefield, pleaded innocent at arraignment to second-degree assault.

According to court records, the incident occurred April 26 in Middlefield.

English was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due back in court July 10.

ä Troy Dunkley, 30, of Oneonta, was sentenced to 11/2 years in prison with two years of post-release supervision for second-degree possession of marijuana.

According to court records, he pleaded guilty March 13.

He also forfeited $1,504 and was assessed $320 in court costs.

ä Jacob Fink, 22, of Worcester, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary.

According to court records, the incident occurred June 6, 2008, in Westford.

Fink is scheduled to be sentenced July 10.

In Otsego County Court on June 8 before Lambert:

ä Kristofer Jeffers, 28, of Oneonta, pleaded innocent at arraignment to DWI.

He is free on $2,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court July 20.

ä James Maiorana, 43, of Ilion, pleaded innocent at arraignment to second-degree assault.

According to court records, the incident occurred March 23 in Middlefield. He is in jail in lieu of $25,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court July 20.

Following a year-long investigation by a number of law enforcement agencies, Dante Darren Major, 35, of Hobart, was arrested for a number of drug felonies, Otsego deputies said.
