Bank robbery suspect jailed

By Jake Palmateer

A man who allegedly robbed a bank in Edmeston turned himself in at the Otsego County sheriff's office in the town of Middlefield early Saturday morning.

David A. Lolik, 38, of Edmeston, was identified Thursday by state police as a suspect in a heist at the NBT Bank in Edmeston on May 19. Troopers provided Lolik's description and a photograph to The Daily Star.

Deputies turned Lolik over to troopers, who then charged him at about 2 a.m. with third-degree robbery, a class D felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison, according to authorities. He was arraigned before Edmeston Town Justice Barbara Bateman and sent to Otsego County jail on $100,000 bail/$200,000 bond.

A call to the Troop C Bureau of Criminal Investigations for more information was not returned Sunday night.

Lolik was last seen in Schenectady the day of the robbery, and was known to have lived in Norwich, Oneonta and Schenectady, troopers said in a news release. He had ties to the Hartwick area, troopers said previously.

His most recent address was at 26 South St. in Edmeston.

A tall, burly white man who appeared to be in his mid-30s approached a teller at the bank at about 9:05 a.m. and committed the robbery by passing a note, troopers said. No weapon was displayed.

Bank security cameras captured images of the robber, which were released to The Daily Star.

Neither law-enforcement officials nor NBT Bank officials have indicated the amount of money taken during the heist.

NBT had offered a reward of up to $10,000 for original information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
