Area dealers say they're still with GM

By Mark Boshnack

Three area General Motors dealers said Friday that they have not been notified of any changes by the manufacturer.

Tom Armao, president of County Club Motors, said that the dealership had not been contacted by the company Friday and didn't expect to be because of the company's location and sales volume.

"We're looking forward to another 40 with General Motors," he said.

At Scoville-Meno, which sells General Motors brands at its Bainbridge and Owego locations, no notifications have been received, said president and partner Steve Scoville.

"We feel like we are in it for the long haul," he said.

At Gary Enck's Car Store in Cooperstown, someone who answered the phone would only say that Enck was not answering any calls about the situation.

Sherburne's McCredy Motors told The New York Times that it did not receive closure notification from GM.

Other dealers selling GM cars in the four-county area are Christman Motor Sales and Benedict Corp. in Norwich, Gable in Cobleskill and Chase Chevrolet in Worcester.
