A Harpursville man was arrested Monday for failing to report to the probation department in 2005, Otsego deputies said.
Kristopher John Garrison, 40, was arrested on a warrant for violation of probation _ a felony, deputies said.
He was originally sentenced in 2003 on a driving while intoxicated charge to six months in the Otsego County jail and five years' probation, deputies said. After he moved from his Unadilla residence in 2005, he failed to report to probation, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. Information was recently obtained that he was working in Pittsfield, deputies said. He was located Monday and taken into custody by deputies and probations officers following execution of a warrant.
Garrison was arraigned Tuesday and sent to Otsego County jail without bail, deputies said.
Assault charges brought
A 20-year-old man serving a yearlong sentence in the Otsego County jail was arrested Wednesday for attempting to assault another male inmate on two occasions, Otsego deputies said.
While investigating an attempted assault of an inmate on May 2, deputies discovered Joshua A. West, 20, of Homassa, Fla., had done the same thing on April 30, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Otsego Town Court on two counts of second-degree assault and returned to jail to serve the balance of his second-degree criminal trespass sentence, deputies said. He faces up to eight years on the new charges, deputies said.
