A Roxbury woman faces several charges related to alleged thefts from two Delaware County businesses and a county department, the sheriff's department said Tuesday.
Marie K. Bower, 24, was charged April 30 by Delaware County deputies with fourth-degree grand larceny, according to a media release issued Tuesday.
An investigation of the theft of more than $1,000 cash from her employer's Roxbury business in late March implicated Bower, deputies said.
That employer is Ski Plattekill, or Plattekill Mountain, Undersheriff Douglas Vredenburgh said by phone Tuesday.
On that charge, Bower is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Thursday in Middletown Town Court.
Since that arrest, Bower has also been charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records, second-degree forgery and a separate charge of fourth-degree grand larceny. The exact dates of those charges and what, if any, court action is pending was not immediately available Tuesday from deputies.
Those charges, deputies said in the release, stemmed from investigation into two other alleged incidents.
Bower's primary employer discovered the embezzlement of more than $8,000 from the business since late 2007, deputies said. Vredenburgh said Tuesday that employer is an Arkville attorney.
Also, deputies said, they investigated a forged document filed with Delaware Opportunities and revealed that Bower stole more than $1,000 in benefits from the county Department of Social Services that she was not entitled to.
