Teens accused in theft
ONEONTA _ Two Oneonta teens were arrested on felony and misdemeanor larceny charges for allegedly stealing a person's wallet at the Oneonta Family YMCA last month.
Craig A. Shamblin, 16, was charged with petit larceny and fourth-degree grand larceny Friday. Kyle F. Levers, 17, was arrested on the same charges Saturday.
The wallet, containing cash and a credit card, was taken from a men's locker room at the YMCA on Dec. 29, police said.
Snow reminder issued
ONEONTA _ The city Engineering Department issued a reminder Monday informing those who remove snow in the city that it is unlawful to dump it in any of the city's creeks or on city streets.
The city's prohibition against this practice covers Silver Creek, Oneonta Creek, Glenwood Creek and Mill Race, as well as the Susquehanna River. Piles of debris or snow may cause blockages in the waterways.
Man accused of 2 assaults
ONEONTA _ A 27-year-old man was arrested over the weekend and charged with assaulting two men at the Townhouse Motor Inn on Main Street.
Jesse Smith of Oneonta was charged with felony second-degree assault for allegedly striking a 36-year-old Bloomville man in the head with a beer bottle.
Smith also faces a misdemeanor third-degree assault charge for allegedly punching a 25-year-old Oneonta man in the head, police said Monday.
The fight occurred late Saturday night and both men suffered facial injuries, police said.
Smith arraigned in city court Sunday and was sent to the Otsego Couny jail on $2,500 bail/$5,000 bond.
He is to reappear in court today for further proceedings.
