Glimmerglass to get $2,500
COOPERSTOWN _ A Cooperstown-area state park was one of eight recipients of grants announced Thursday by a park and trails advocacy group.
Friends of Glimmerglass State Park will receive $2,500 from Park & Trails New York to buy materials and hire a consultant to help develop the organization that was formed in April, according to a media release.
The money will be used for such things as having a logo designed and brochures printed, said Friends President Karen Scheckells. It will also go toward equipment to provide programs for campers and community, she said.
Park & Trails New York is a statewide not-for-profit organization that has worked to create and protect state parks since 1985, according to the agency's website.
Police: Man had stolen guns
MEREDITH _ Delaware County deputies arrested and charged a Walton man Friday with possessing weapons reported stolen last year.
Timothy D. Calabrese, 46, surrendered himself to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to a media release.
He is accused of possessing a rifle and shotgun in the town of Davenport that were reported stolen from a town of Tompkins residence between early February and April.
Calabrese was arraigned in town of Meredith Court and released on his own recognizance pending further court action.
