Professor's book reading is Friday

Hartwick College Professor Thomas Travisano will read from his book ``Words In Air'' at 7 p.m. Friday at the Green Toad Bookstore on Main Street in Oneonta.

Travisano's book, which was featured in The New York Times Book Review, is the complete correspondence between poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell. Travisano also will answer questions and sign copies of the book.

Organizers at Green Toad said Travisano recently spoke at Hartwick College ``to a very excited audience, and his presence will be a warm and welcome event this season.''

Area artist selling holiday cards

Brandon Dawley, a graphic artist from Richfield Springs, is selling holiday greeting cards featuring his drawings of Krampus with Santa Claus.

While St. Nicholas would give treats to good children at Christmas, Krampus delivered switches and bad dreams to disobedient youngsters, according to 19th-century legend in Europe, Dawley said in a media release. Dawley said his first Krampus card in 2005 won recognition in Print's Regional Design Annual.

For more information, call Dawley at (315) 219-6723, send e-mail to bld@brandondawley.com or visit krampuskards.blogspot.com.
