Deputies investigate death
Chenango deputies were trying determine the identity of an elderly man whose body was taken from the Chenango River south of state Route 320 at about 11 a.m.Friday in the town of Norwich, according to a news release.
The body was discovered by a deputy on patrol and taken to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, where an autopsy is scheduled on Saturday, deputies said. The death is being ruled as suspicious until investigators can rule out foul play, deputies said.
Deputies were assisted by Norwich police and fire departments and emergency squad and state forest rangers, deputies said.

Two women injured in accident Friday
Two women were injured in a two-car accident Friday morning on county Route 10 in the town of Meredith, Delaware deputies said. They were treated and released at A. O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, a nursing supervisor said.
The accident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when Amy Clark, 29, of Davenport was operating an Delaware County Department of Social Services car. According to deputies, Clark was driving southwest when she drifted off the north shoulder, striking a mailbox. She overcorrected and reentered the roadway, causing her to lose control of the car. It crossed the double yellow line sideways into the northeast lane where it was struck by a pickup operated by Laurie Aitken, 45 of Delhi, on the passenger side. Clark's vehicle traveled back onto the north shoulder, while Aitken's car traveled off the south shoulder into trees. Both were taken by ambulance to Fox, deputies said.
The Troop C collision reconstruction unit was called for assistance, deputies said. The East Meredith Fire Department remained on scene for traffic control, said deputies noting the accident is still under investigation.
Law library open house planned for next week
DELHI - The 126-year-old Delaware County Supreme Court Law Library has come out of the basement and moved up to the second floor in the historic Delaware County Courthouse in Delhi.
An open house to celebrate the move and introduce the public, attorneys, court employees and judges to the updated library space is being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.
Charle Cash, law library clerk, said the new library space features compact moveable shelving as well as traditional shelving.
Two public access computers with online legal research services are available at the library.
Cash said in a media release that the open house will showcase the library's new features and a variety of handouts will be available.
The Delaware County Supreme Court Law Library was created on April 7, 1882 under Chapter 51 of the Laws of the State of New York of 1882, Cash said.
The library is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, but is closed on Fridays.
Light refreshments will be served at the open house.
