JOHNSON CITY _ A Norwich motorcyclist who was critically injured last week in a collision with a pickup truck remains hospitalized and has undergone surgery, according to a website maintained by his employer.

Keith Reed Jr., 47, is the principal at Sherburne-Earlville High School, and the district's website (www.secsd.org/reedupdate/) said Thursday that he underwent surgery Thursday morning. He was listed in stable but critical condition Wednesday, according to the website. The type of surgery and severity of his injuries were not listed.

Reed was riding a 2005 Yamaha south on state Route 12 in Oxford at about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 22 when he collided with a 1994 Ford pickup driven by Randy Cooper, 43, of Oxford, state police at Sidney said previously.

Reed was transported to Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City, where he remains.

Cooper was not injured, according to troopers, but he was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.

The collision was the latest in a string of accidents this year. At least five men from Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties have been killed since June 15 in motorcycle accidents.
