DELHI _ A Bainbridge man who pleaded guilty to slashing another man in the throat in Sidney on May 16 was sentenced Monday to five years in prison.
Hayes A. Cutting Jr., 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in Delaware County Court on May 27.
Cutting also received five years of post-release supervision as second violent felony offender.
On Sept. 30, 1999, Cutting pleaded guilty in Broome County Court to second-degree attempted burglary.
Cutting's victim, Gerald Moore, had emergency surgery at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta and is out of the hospital, Delaware County Richard Northrup said previously.
Delaware County Judge Carl Becker issued an eight-year order of protection ordering Cutting to stay away from Moore.
Cutting said the incident was "a bar fight gone bad." Cutting said he had a utility or sheetrock knife, which he kept hooked to his belt, and when he punched Moore, the knife cut his neck.
Also, an Ozone Park man appeared in court on charges related to the sale of controlled substances in Deposit in February.
Phillip J. Letizia, 48, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling dihydrocodeinone on Feb. 5. According to the plea agreement, he will be sentenced to four years in prison with two years of post-release supervision as a second felony offender.
Letizia's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 22.
Other cases heard in court included:
ä Donald R. Covey, 53, of Walton, was sentenced to two years in prison with two years of post-release supervision and was ordered to pay $100 restitution to the Walton Police Department.
Covey pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling morphine Oct. 28 in Walton to a police informant.
ä A Pennsylvania man was sentenced to five years' probation on a third-degree grand larceny charge.
Randall L. Cox, 31, of South Gibson, admitted stealing $16,089.60 from Johnston and Rhodes Bluestone Company in East Branch.
Cox was fined $5,000 and ordered to make full restitution.
Cox said he stole the money between July 19 and Nov. 9 by submitting false stone slips and receiving payment for them.
