Water disruption planned
ONEONTA _ There will be a disruption in water service today in the Bugbee Road area because of the ongoing construction project.
Officials with Contour Construction said the interruption will occur between 9:30 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m.
Gas-drilling session today
ONEONTA _ The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York will host a public information session today to address the environmental, scientific and economic aspects of natural-gas exploration.
The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Hunt Union Ballroom at the State University College at Oneonta.
IOGA of NY speakers will include Brad Gill, executive director; John Holko, secretary of the board; and member John A. Conrad, president and senior hydrogeologist of the Conrad Geoscience Corp.
Gill said state regulations will likely be even tougher when the DEC completes its comprehensive environmental review.
He said ``oil and natural-gas companies have been drilling for natural gas in New York for more than 100 years and have an exceptional track record on safety and environmental compliance.''
