DELHI "" The Delaware County Local Development Corporation has announced it is accepting applications for the final round of facade projects under the Delhi Village N.Y. Main Street Program.
Glenn Nealis, Delaware County Economic Development director, said the program will wrap up at the end of the year, and people who want to participate must apply now. As the program is nearing its end, Nealis said, the funding is "use it or lose it."
The program was established using a $200,000 grant received under the N.Y. Main Street Program, administered through the state Housing Trust Fund Corporation.
The funds have been used by building owners to repaint facades and install awnings, energy-efficient all-wood replacement windows, new business signs and shutters. To date, 16 projects have been approved, with eight completed. There remains a balance of $40,000 in uncommitted funds.
Through the facade-renovation portion of the program, awards of up to $10,000 are available to building owners and new and existing businesses. These grant funds may be used solely for the repair, maintenance or renovation of the facade of eligible Main Street commercial buildings.
All grants through this program will be made on a reimbursement basis and will require a minimum of a 50-50 match by the applicant.
Applications are being accepted from the owners of buildings located on Main Street, between Franklin and Court streets, in Delhi.
The program is intended to aid the small-business community in efforts to re-establish Main Street as the commercial center of the village. While not a requirement of the program, applicants are encouraged to demonstrate job creation or retention through the use of the grant funds.
