Three Oneonta-area women face felony drug charges after cocaine, crack and heroin were allegedly found in their vehicle in Orange County last week.
Alexandria Johnson, 20, of Maryland, Melissa Alan, 23, of Oneonta, and Kathryn Gorman, 24, of Maryland, along with Wayne Collins, 43, of New York City, were driving west on state Route 17 in the town of Blooming Grove at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, when state police pulled their 2000 Hyundai over after they witnessed several vehicle and traffic law violations, according to a media release from Troop F in Middletown.
After an investigation, the women and Collins were found to have 169 packets of heroin, 45 grams of cocaine and 122 grams of crack cocaine in their possession, according to troopers.
Collins, who is on probation for a felony drug conviction in 2008, also had a forged U.S. Virgin Islands driver's license in another name, troopers said.
Motorists coming from New York City often use Route 17 to get to the Oneonta area.
All four were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Johnson was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having four ounces or more of a narcotic. Collins was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument and second-degree criminal impersonation.
After arraignments in Monroe Town Court, Johnson was sent to Orange County jail without bail, while Collins was sent there on $20,000 bail. Alan and Gorman were sent to the same jail on $10,000 bail. All four are to reappear in court at a later date.
No further information on the case was available from troopers Sunday.
