The Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School District has filled its upcoming superintendent vacancy from within, according to a Wednesday media release from the school.

The board appointed assistant principal Robert Miller at its June 25 meeting, effective July 27, the release said.

Miller became assistant principal for the 2008-09 school year. He taught mathematics at Oneonta High School for 15 years, and was an adjunct mathematics instructor at the State University College at Oneonta for the last 10 years.

He has been a lifelong resident of Oneonta, the release said, and is married with four children. He is an avid runner, participating in many area road races, the release said, and has coached travel and recreational soccer in Oneonta as well as track, cross country and swimming at the scholastic level.

Miller received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and chemistry at State University College at Oneonta in 1988, the release said. He also received a master's degree from SUNY Oneonta in mathematics education.

He received both his certificate of advanced study in school administration and school district administrator certification from SUNY Cortland in May 2006.

School board President Donald Drake said Thursday night that Miller "has been a good administrator for us and has the support of the Board of Education as he moves on to more responsibility in the district."

Salary information for Miller was not included in the media release.

Savin made $91,379 at CV-S in 2007-08, which was the last year data was available.
