Letters to the Editor: May 14, 2012

Thank you, to the future Butternuts residents

I was privileged to witness history being made when our town of Butternuts voted in a nine-month moratorium on hydrofracking.

After leaving the Butternuts hearing, our towns' teenagers were attaching purple balloons to every "No Drill/No Spill" sign.

To the young adults of Butternuts that preformed this act, thank you.

It made me reflect back on the long journey the citizens and I have made in the last year. It has been a long and hard-fought battle to preserve our property rights so that we will not be compulsory-integrated into a fracking well and all of the contaminating effects that come with hydrofracking.

Again, to the next generation of Butternuts residents, thank you, for showing us you care and I am sorry for what some adults are putting you and our planet through.

Mrs. Tammy Reiss
