Pacherille sacrificed to political correctness

I'm answering Mr. Robert Garfield's letter of May 16 concerning Anthony Pacherille. Mr. Garfield's Bible quote from Proverbs 28:17 supports the Hon. Judge Burns and D.A. Muehl: "A man who does violence to the blood of another will flee to the pit. Let no one support him."

God gave us the law through Moses; then he gave us Christ who is the fulfillment of the law. Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. Go and learn the meaning of the words: What I want is mercy, not sacrifice. And indeed I did not come to call the virtuous, but sinners." (Matthew 9:13).

Mr. Garfield calls Anthony "... a racist would-be murderer who venerates Adolf Hitler," because of Anthony's manifesto that he wrote before the shooting. Judge Burns similarly took this manifesto at face value and did not give importance to Anthony's age, his mental condition, or the alleged verbal abuse Anthony had endured for years from Wesley Lippitt and others at CCS.

Yes, the Sixth Commandment is, "You shall not kill." And then there is the Ninth Commandment: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." Yet there has been a barrage of lies about Anthony: first, the bullying lies, then the county's prosecution and conviction by half-truths, then the stereotyped coverage by The Daily Star, and finally the stonewalling by CCS.

I believe Anthony is more sinned against than sinning. No mercy was shown; he was sacrificed to the false god, political correctness.

Pipeline not safe to go through Sidney

Recently my town of Sidney was presented with a proposal for taking private land by eminent domain for the Constitution Pipeline. This is described as a high-pressure transport line with a possible half-mile radius of explosion risk. No odorant is placed in these pipes to warn landowners of leaks. Emergency workers and first responders are advised to walk or run into the wind in case of fire or leaks and not start their vehicles as they become igniters and may trigger an explosion of a clear vapor cloud that is outside any visible release.

Should our land be stolen when this gas is going to be exported for the private profit of Cabot Williams LLC?

Maps have been given to local officials with property owners identified, maps that don't reach the public, people on the proposed route or their neighbors. Talk to your neighbors. If this line is so safe, why not put it in the Interstate 88 right-of-way, as the Department of Transportation has jurisdiction over such lines if built. But perhaps they are harder to intimidate than private landholders, and harder to deal with when larger pipes are wanted, or higher pressures, or additional lines for storage, or compressor stations? View our recent meeting on YouTube titled Forum on the Constitution Pipeline held in Sidney on May 24.
