Don't misjudge Lucy Bernier

Lucy Bernier is the incumbent. Her peers say that her performance on the bench has been praiseworthy. Clearly she is extraordinarily qualified for the position of Oneonta City Court Judge. She has spent a lifetime in Oneonta involved in a variety of community activities, always with distinction. Lucy is on the Democrat and Independence Party tickets yet is truly "independent" and nonpartisan as the current Oneonta City Court Judge.

Because I know of her character and integrity, I believe she is the best choice for the position she seeks to retain. I urge all Oneontans who cast their ballots in November, please don't miss Judge Lucy Bernier!

City can be proud of mayoral candidates

I went to the Foothills Center for the Performing Arts which was rented by the two candidates, Eric Miller and Jason Corrigan. It was a pleasure to hear these two young men who want to lead our city as mayor.

I applaud them, both articulate, pleasant and well-versed. Too bad the third candidate did not appear and chose to have a media conference from the comfort of his home.

Many questions and concerns were answered and ideas shared. It will be a hard choice for many to make, in my opinion, because they seem like friends, and maybe they are.

Thank heavens it's not like some ads on TV where two candidates try and bury the other in mud. Either Jason Corrigan or Erik Miller would be an asset to the city of the hills.

Crowell is qualified to be treasurer

I met Dan Crowell at a neighborhood meeting early this fall and want to share with you how impressive this man is. He is running for county treasurer and I strongly encourage you to vote for him Nov. 3.

The experience he brings to the office is that of a businessman, Fulbright Scholar, graduate of the London School of Economics, entrepreneur, executive and practitioner of economic development with real-life experience in public and private finance and economics at very high levels.

Beyond that resume, I am certain that the people of Otsego County will find in Dan Crowell a highly intelligent, personable man who will bring hope to the people, their children and grandchildren, so they too will find prosperity and happiness in our community.

On top of being highly fluent in the same accounting system our county uses, Dan understands business development from the perspective of an entrepreneur. He understands what constitutes an appealing investment environment from the perspective of a financier. To have someone with that background providing leadership in county finances would be a wise investment in the local economy.

Vote for Dan on Nov. 3.
