Some can't let go of race issue in election
I find it incredibly ironic that, the very same day William Eckardt's letter regarding President Obama and "the race card" should appear in The Daily Star, someone decided to leave a message scrawled on the dirty rear window of my car.
I've had an Obama/Biden decal on the rear bumper since the 2008 election, and much to my surprise, the "n" word with an arrow pointing to the President of the United States' name was etched in the dirt _ which, by the way, is precisely where such a hateful sentiment belongs.
So, you think Mr. Obama is playing "the race card," Mr. Eckardt? Well, race may not be the most prominent issue in the next election, but apparently for some it's the only issue, and it would be naive to think otherwise.

Unborn babies need legal protection, too
It is so comforting to know that our state legislature and our governor are so concerned about the health and well-being of our children between the ages of 14 and 18 that they have banned them from tanning booths, with or without parental consent.
The majority of these young tanners are girls. Too bad that the politicians, from Cuomo on down, don't care enough about the health of girls 14 to 18, so as to ban them from aborting their children, most of whom are also female, with or without parental consent.
