COMMENTING ON STORIES:

7. Accusations of criminal activity.
8. Content that is harmful to children and minors in any way.
9. References to any type of sexual activity and other private matters.
10. Random and inflammatory statements that are off topic.
11. Advertising of any kind.
12. Typing in all caps.

WE ENCOURAGE REASONABLE AND COURTEOUS COMMENTS THAT:

1. Create conversation on issues of interest and concern to fellow readers and local community members.
2. Express opinions and contrarian views.
3. Stimulate debate with respectful language.
4. Stay within the boundaries of these rules.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SUSPEND OR TERMINATE ACCESS FOR:

Planters aren’t worth complaining about

I address this letter to my very good friend Tom Oliver concerning the new planters in the Dietz Street/Ford Avenue parking lot.

You’re concerned, Tom, that your tax money is being used for this purpose. To me, when I drove down and checked the lot after your letter, I felt that it gave some color and class to a lot that needed something. Yes, there is some work to finish; however, when completed, it will be very nice. You’re correct, the plows will have to be careful; so what?

There are real problems in the world, Tom. This is not one of them. Write a letter once in a while showing a glass half full, not half empty.

Keep up the great work, city of Oneonta!
