Democrats must start
acting, not reacting
Let me share an analogy:
On Inauguration Day, it was
like Bush was walking away
from a smoking car, throwing
the keys to Obama and
saying “she runs great, but
watch ’er in the corners.”
Let’s look at some facts:
Obama comes into office
in two wars with no end in
sight. We were in Iraq (bestcase
scenario) based on poor
intelligence, but I think
people know it goes much
deeper than that. The Bush
administration was the first
one that lowered taxes during
involvement in not one,
but two wars, resulting in
doubling our national debt.
Early in Bush’s term, the
EPA reduced the restrictions
on coal-fired power
plants on the level of emissions
allowed. Of course, according
to Tom Sears, global
warming is a hoax.
The Republicans are quick
to say that the financial relief
money is wasteful spending,
but they don’t blink
an eye when that money is
directed toward programs in
their states and districts.
Obama campaigned on
health care reform and when
it started its way through
Congress it was met by the
party of “no” _ the Republicans.
What made matters
worse was that when the
Republicans would threaten
a filibuster, the Democrats
would back down. They had
a filibuster-proof Senate and
failed to capitalize on that.
The Republicans used fear
tactics, calling government
proposed “optional” (keyword)
health care socialism.
They say that Congress
should scrap the current
plan and start over. I have
not seen what their alternative
is other than tort reform.
As if insurance companies
are going to bow and start offering
help to the uninsured.
Government options on
health care can work. We
have Medicaid, which, with
some reforms, could move
toward a solution.
Where’s the bipartisanship?
Not in our government.
The Democrats need to stop
reacting and start acting.

Paterson ‘scandal’
just a witch hunt
What ever happened to the
premise that a man is innocent
until proved guilty.
The media and some
political opportunists are
trying Governor Paterson by
innuendo.
This, to me, seem to be
just a ploy on the part of the
Democratic Party to place
Andrew Cuomo in office.
I am not a Democrat and
would not vote for Paterson,
anyway.
But this entire witch hunt
stinks.
The media would have
had a field day at the Salem
Witch Trials.

Whenever I see a smart car, it has special meaning for me because I see in it a major part of the environmental movement's character.
