Trapping of cats doesn't seem fair

I have lived in the Valley Stream Trailer Park for 11 years. During that time I have come across many abandoned, stray, sick or pregnant cats, and I have done my best to be kind to these helpless creatures. I have found good homes for many kittens and had the mothers spayed and male cats neutered.

I am disabled and live on Social Security Insurance, so my finances are limited, but I felt that these were necessary, humane things to do. These pre-owned felines were used to going outside when I found them, so letting them out to play, lay in the sun and do what cats love to do was normal. They are all loved; they sleep with me at night.

A new rule was just announced by park management. Because the cat population has become a problem, all outdoor cats will be trapped, taken to a shelter and possibly euthanized, even if they have a home.

Many residents are upset by this rule, and I am scared to death.

If a cat wants out, it finds a way to get out by running past when a door is opened or even by chewing through a screen in warm weather. My cats are all in danger of being trapped and killed.

After making many phone calls, I was told that this is legal and the park can do it. If anyone reading this loves animals and knows of someone to contact to alter this policy, many people and pets would be very grateful for the information.

Why should a cat lose its life and why should a family lose its pet just because the animal is playing outdoors. I live alone and these cats are companions that give me joy every day. I don't want to lose them.

These are some entertaining times

Entertainment is where you find it. I recently discovered these entertaining times:

Sporting event: Sarah Palin parasailing along on the winds of self-puffery.

Non-comedy talk show: A new, co-ed Three Stooges _ Cheney, Limbaugh, Palin _ performing individually their ideological idiocies.

Of negative note: Tiger Woods' public apology, which was too remotely remorseful to be truly entertaining.
