Celebrations of the presidential
inauguration are being held at the
three area SUNY campuses.
The State University College of
Technology at Delhi is planning a celebration
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the
Farrell Hall Commons.
Joel Smith, SUNY Delhi spokesman,
said the Student Senate, the
Student Programming Board and
the Escoffier Club are sponsoring
the event.
Marty Greenfield, director of student
activities, has arranged for a
outdoor drive-in theater-sized movie
screen on which the inauguration of
Barack Obama will be televised.
Smith said there will be a red,
white and blue balloon archway,
an ice sculpture, sandwiches, beverages
and patriotic cupcakes. The
Delaware County Democratic Party
is providing pizza to thank students
for taking an interest in the election
and voting.
“The students have been interested
in the election process all year,”
Smith said, “and that interest has
carried over to the inauguration.”
The State University College
of Agriculture and Technology at
Cobleskill will hold a community
viewing at 11 a.m. in the Bouck Hall
auditorium.

relations, said the free event
is open to the public as part of the
school’s “communiversity” initiative.
Refreshments will be provided.
The auditorium will be open for
the swearing-in at noon, followed
by Obama’s inaugural address.
The State University College at
Oneonta is holding events open to
the public from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
in the Center for Multicultural Experiences,
said spokeswoman Carol
Blazina on Monday. Refreshments
will be served.
Hartwick College spokesman
Francis Borrego said the college
will make the inauguration available
to watch on a webcast. He said
the college held several events
leading up to the inauguration, including
a dinner discussion Monday
night hosted by the Pluralism
Association League for Students.
