The Butternut Valley Alliance's fourth annual Summer Harvest Festival will take place from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Guy Rathbun Park in Morris.
The festival, held in conjunction with the weekly Morris Farmers' Market, which BVA promotes, is free and open to the public.
The Empire House Restaurant of Gilbertsville, will prepare and serve free samples of dishes made with locally grown vegetables. Morris Farmers' Market gift certificates will be given away as door prizes. Entertainment will feature live music the Doug Ernst Family Band, former broadway singer Jonathan Dokuchitz, Kathy Shimberg and Steve Eisenberg, and Ken Held, formerly of Fetish Lane). A juggler will entertain children and offer face-painting.
The BVA will have tables with information on the organization's activities, such as nature and wildflower walks, boat trips on the Butternut Creek, water quality monitoring and gas-drilling education.
Copies of the BVA's "Guide to Local Farm Food" and Harvest Festival T-shirts will be sold to benefit the nonprofit BVA, whose mission is "to encourage the preservation and protection of the environmental qualities, farming and cultural heritage, economic viability, open space and village charms of the entire watershed."
Local and state elected officials have been invited, and state assemblyman Bill Magee, along with county representatives Pauline Koren and Betty Anne Schwerd, have confirmed their plans to attend, according to a media release.

Farmers' Museum to host summer story time
A family story hour for children in pre-school through first grade will be offered Tuesdays at The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown. Story Time takes place each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. beginning June 25. The program will run through Aug. 27.

Clark Foundation announces scholarship winners
