Hartwick College has collected almost $1 million in its Annual Fund campaign _ about 83 percent of its goal to raise $1.21 million by the end of June.
"We've been extraordinarily lucky in the support we've received," said Donald E. Brown, vice-president of external affairs.
Hartwick has received $914,000 in cash gifts and $100,000 in pledges, as of the end of January. The college is $300,000 ahead of where it was a year ago, when the goal was $1,051,034.
"The hardest money is yet to get," Brown said. He expected about 80 percent of the pledge money to come through, he added.
Money from the Annual Fund is unrestricted and goes toward salaries, equipment, acquisitions for the library, utilities and other expenses. The fund is separate from Hartwick's $36 million endowment.
