A Guilford Transportation official said it is unlikely the company will sell any of its unused Delaware & Hudson Railway property in the city of Oneonta unless someone makes an offer.
"We have no interest in selling for speculative purposes," said John Denison, assistant vice president for real estate at Guilford, reacting to a city alderman's proposal to put the land on the market as a lure to developers. "If someone shows an interest we would be happy to talk to them."
Guilford is the parent company of the D&H.
Denison also said that all 175 acres that the railway owns in the city are on the tax rolls, and the D&H is current in its tax payments.
City Alderman Francis Scarzafava, Ward 6, would like the Delaware & Hudson to consider selling some of its unused land so it can be used for industrial development and possibly bring more jobs to the city.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS _ Gunset Ski Bowl, the only skiing center along Route 20 from Albany to Auburn, opened unofficially this past weekend. The new development, owned and operated by Contractor Lewis I. Whipple and his son Lewis, is located just one mile west of the village clock on the south side of Route 20.
The main slope has a vertical descent of 275 feet. Two trails one half mile in length and another, one third mile, are in use.
The Poma lift has a capacity for carrying 600 persons per hour. A rope tow will also be installed this year to service the novice area. There are parking facilities for 1,000 cars.
The development is on a high hill on an old Indian trail and took its name from the fact that upon it the early settlers used to set guns for bears, which were very numerous in the old days.
