SIDNEY _ Beginning Saturday Sidney youngsters will have their very own snack bar, a place where they can get together for a hamburger or a soda and "jitterbug" or "twist" to music from a juke box.

The snack bar is located in the Recreation Center and adults are also welcome to come in for refreshments. In fact it is hoped adults will patronize the place to help support it with their purchases.

To celebrate the opening, sundaes, cones, sodas, banana splits and such will be offered at two for the price of one this Saturday only from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Edward F. Huntington, member of the Recreation Commission said approximately $400 has been contributed to make the snack bar possible.

Since Cable's Sweet Shop closed early in January, teenagers in the community have had no place where they could congregate for a snack and chatter.

Operation of the snack bar will be supervised by the Recreation Commission assisted by the Youth Service Council. Members of the council also raised sufficient funds to purchase five tables, 20 chairs and a grille for the snack bar.

The snack bar will be operated on a trial basis for two months when an evaluation will be made. Mr. Huntington said its continuance will depend on whether it proves to be entirely self-supporting.
