SIDNEY _ The Sidney Village Board unanimously voted Monday to buy seven residential properties on the Willow Street Extension, land which floods almost every spring and has caused many complaints.
The village will pay up to $65,000 for the land, an amount set through negotiations which have been going on between the village and residents since April, said Mayor Elwood "Dixie" Davis. One property is not involved in the vote because the owner and the village have not come to an agreement yet.
"I saw no point in holding up the whole process for one property," he said. "I guess we'll deal with that property at a later date."
The properties will be paid for through the interest on a revolving fund created when a small cities grant was lent to area homeowners. The property purchase is contingent upon the timely payback of the borrowed money, according to the motion made by Trustee Dwight McKown after a half-hour executive session during the regular village board meeting.

Money and members _ these are two goals now focused on by the Otsego County Development Corporation.
The Development Corporation will kickoff its financial and membership drive at a luncheon set for noon, Monday, February 5 at the Rex Restaurant.
Chairman of the $50,000 financial drive announced in December is Philip Bresee.
Mr. Bresee described the February session as one for the general membership of the corporation. One hundred and one persons belong to the Development Corporation.
Aside from broadening the membership base in Oneonta, the Developers are seeking more representatives from the county.
The Development Corporation, a county-wide organization, is designed to better the entire area's economic, social and cultural picture.
