Step Back in Time

Step Back in Time features community news items from The Daily Star 25 and 50 years ago.

Dec. 11, 1959

The annual Christmas concert presented by the Oneonta High School varsity choir has been announced for 8 p.m. Dec. 15, in the high school auditorium.

Under the direction of Willis L. Walley, the choir will sing traditional Christmas numbers, both sacred and secular.

The program will include a candlelight procession and some of the numbers will be presented by candlelight.

Solos, duets and small ensembles of boys and girls will perform along with the choir, accompanied by Carolyn Knowles and Karen Flanigan.

Dec. 11, 1984

SHARON SPRINGS _ Marine Cpl. Kenneth C. Flanagan, a 1980 graduate of Sharon Springs Central School, has completed the Aviation Machinist's Mate Basic Jet Engine Course. He is married to the former Connie Keller, daughter of Vivian Keller of Sharon Springs.

BLOOMVILLE _ Navy Seaman Recruit Carl B. Morganstern of Bloomville, a 1984 graduate of South Kortright, has completed recruit training at the Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the grandson of Mrs. Helen Martin, who raised him and has been his legal guardian since he was 10.

LAURENS _ Spec. 4 Norma C. Brown, daughter of Mrs. Betty Wellman, Laurens, was recently honored by the Department of the Army as its Department of Nursing Health Care Provider of the Month for October 1984. Specialist Brown and her husband, Michael are stationed at 5th General Hospital, Germany.
