Cars roll again across the Maple Avenue bridge in Hobart, following completion of a $600,000 renovation project. The historic arched stone bridge has been closed for 18 months.

The 96-year-old bridge across the West Branch of the Delaware River was closed in the spring of 1983 after erosion had eaten away ground on a south wing wall. Traffic, including heavy milk tankers, was re-routed onto Cornell Avenue.

The Hobart-based O'Connor Foundation then granted $25,000 for an engineering study, followed by another grant of about $600,000 to repair the bridge and also add conduits for a small hydroelectric project. The Burton Clark company of Delhi did the construction work.

SIDNEY _ The Norwich Little Theater Association's latest presentation, "Someone Waiting," will be coming to Sidney on Dec. 5, under the sponsorship of the Sidney Mother's Club.

Proceeds will go toward the club's scholarship program.

This three-act mystery by Emlyn Williams was presented in Norwich, and critics there lauded this amateur group for a truly professional performance.

Starring in the production is Ken Gage, a performer with the Norwich Little Theater for the last two seasons. Others in the cast include Tom Sproull, Aloha Nodecker, James Lobdell, Marie Corbet, Vivian Garber, Sherley Pfeiffer, Ray Brosmer and Marion Brosmer.

This will be the first play to be staged in the new Sidney High School auditorium.
