COMMENTING ON STORIES:

Welcome to our story comments feature. We welcome your thoughts and your opinions, including the unpopular ones. We only ask that you keep your conversations clean, civil and on the topic of the story you are commenting on.

Coinciding with our websites redesign, we launched our new story comments feature through Disqus.

2. Express opinions and contrarian views.

Step Back in Time

Oct. 23, 1984

The Otsego County Reagan-Bush committee has invited Barbara Bush, wife of vice president George Bush, to be the guest of honor at a pre-election dinner, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, according to Charles Holdorf, chairman of the committee.

Jonathan Bush, the vice-president's brother, reportedly said there is a "99 percent probability" Mrs. Bush will attend the dinner, according to David Brenner, chairman of the Otsego County Board of Representatives, and a member of the Reagan-Bush committee.

The dinner, a testimonial honoring Otsego County Republican Chairman Jim Seward, will be held in the Hunt Union ballroom on the State College campus.

Oct. 23, 1959

SOUTH KORTRIGHT _ Varsity and JV cheerleaders have been selected at South Kortright Central School.

On the varsity squad are Bonnie Townsend, Carol Decker, Emma Palm, Renate Rabeler and Betty VanBuren.

The junior varsity squad consists of Barbara Jean Smith, Dorothy Merwin, Barbara Macaluso, Louise Wilkens, and Linda MacArthur.
