Trout Unlimited is a not-for-profit organization. All proceeds are used by Trout Unlimited for conservation projects, fishing education and to send children to New York state-sponsored summer conservation camps.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, several members of Trout Unlimited assisted the Walton ARC organization in a recreational fishing derby for their clients at a private pond in Hamden. Bass were released unharmed after being caught.
The group would like to recognize Joe DeSantis of Laurens for his project, "Fishing Poles for Kids." DeSantis receives and refurbishes pre-owned spinning outfits through free donations and garage sales and redistributes them to children in need.
The regular monthly Trout Unlimited meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn on state Route 23 in Southside Oneonta.
The program will include the election of officers and directors for the 2009 year and two directors for three-year terms. Non-members and children accompanied by their parents are welcome.
