Stella Miller of Oneonta has two sons and 800 daughters. Many of them came to see her over the weekend to help celebrate her 25 years as the housemother of Alpha Kappa Phi sorority, known as Agonian, and the 100th birthday of the national sorority.
Mrs. Miller radiates the beauty of her 89 years as she talks about the girls of Agonian. Fourteen SUCO students, members of the sorority, live in the house at 56 Maple St. now. Mrs. Miller is "Mom" to the girls. They are frequent visitors in the three downstairs rooms which she occupies. Having tea and cookies with "Mom" is a cherished moment for them.
The girls, including Inger Johnson, Jamie Howard, Belinda Fechner and Jaki Lynn Raider, give Mrs. Miller high marks. Mrs. Miller also receives letters and cards from many of her girls, especially at birthday time. Their messages say, "You are Ago's corner stone, friend and Mom."

Mayor Roger G. Hughes yesterday proclaimed Saturday to be "Carmen Caiazza Day" in Oneonta.
Characterizing the OHS Band leaders as "one of the outstanding band leaders in the state," Mayor Hughes said that for many years he has aided greatly in building school spirit and helping OHS warriors win.
"A very humble man, he takes his work seriously. His band marching and maneuvers are always the best. He and his fine group are a real credit to Oneonta. I feel it is time he was honored by a thoughtful community," the mayor declared.
