Two schools open today in the Oneonta area, almost a week ahead of most others.

Sidney Central opens with an all-day session, plus cornerstone laying of the new senior high school. Fleischmanns opens at noon.

At Sidney, the student council will conduct the cornerstone laying ceremonies for the multi-million dollar building. There will be an outdoor assembly at 8:45 a.m.

Ceremonies will be opened by Principal Robert E. Duke, who will present a metal box to Keith Wrigley, president of the student council. The box will be placed by the latter inside the cornerstone.

Contained in the box will be a copy of the Reflector, the school yearbook, which lists the various student organizations; the Maroon and White school newspaper; a list of all current students; administrative reports of the planning, sequence, and progress of the construction of the new school from its inception; and the names of all who participated in the planning, including the advisory committee.

Other officers of the student council who will also participated in the ceremonies are Jon DeTemple, Jane Ann Linderman, James Tyler, vice president; Barbara Laidlaw, secretary; Hugh MacDonald, treasurer.
