Hartwick author to read at Red Dragon Reading Series


As the first installment of the spring Red Dragon Reading Series at the State University College at Oneonta, fiction writer Brent DeLanoy will read from his work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Center for Multicultural Experiences in Lee Hall.

The reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is free and open to the public.

DeLanoy was awarded the 2008 A. E. Coppard Prize for his novella "Benediction," which was published by White Eagle Coffee Store Press.

His short fiction has appeared in the magazines "decomP" and "Thieves Jargon."

A member of the English department faculty at Hartwick College, DeLanoy earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from New Mexico State University in 2006.

Upcoming events in the Red Dragon Reading Series include readings by environmental author Janisse Ray on Wednesday, March 10; novelist and short-story writer Randall Kenan on Wednesday, March 31; and novelist Heidi Durrow on Tuesday, April 20.
